Coin Is One Credit Card to Rule Them All

There are lots of companies, including Google and Apple, that would like to replace your wallet with a digital version, but a startup has a somewhat less ambitious goal — replace your handful of credit cards with one super card. Coin , a credit-card-like device, is set for a summer 2014 launch. As the video below explains, Coin swipes like an ordinary card. The difference is, the card holds up to eight credit cards, debit cards or gift cards. Coin provides a dongle device to users that connects to their phone and an app  that lets you download the card info. The device will cost $100, but the company is charging $50 for early adopters that preorder now. Founded by former PayPal developer Kanishk Parashar, Coin uses a patent-pending magnetic strip. The reader device employs Bluetooth Low Energy and Coin's battery lasts two years, according to the company. Inside Google’s 1-Million-Square-Foot London Office — 3 Years Before It Opens

Google’s new London office, scheduled to open in 2016, will have an open-air swimming pool, an indoor football pitch, a climbing wall and a roof garden from which to watch trains glide out of Kings Cross station toward Cambridge or  Hogwarts . Twitter Hires Google Advertising Executive Ahead of IPO

Twitter has hired a  Google  advertising executive to be head of retail, as the company ramps up hiring and works to expand its business ahead of an initial public offering. J.J. Hirschle, who directed media and entertainment advertising at Google, will be responsible for the team selling advertising products to retail companies, Will Stickney, a spokesman for Twitter, said Wednesday. He starts Oct. 28. The hire comes as Twitter builds its advertising business by reaching out to retailers, among others. The San Francisco-based company, which is preparing to go public in the most-anticipated U.S. technology offering since  Facebook  last year, has disclosed in its S-1 prospectus that it is growing revenue from advertising, even as it remains unprofitable.
