How to Get Started With Vine Sessions and Time Travel

Shooting the perfect Vine video just became a little bit easier. The popular Twitter-owned approlled out an update Thursday that introduced two powerful tools: Sessions and Time Travel.

Sessions allows users to save drafts of their unfinished posts and come back to finish them at a later time. You can work on as many as 10 videos at once.

Time Travel, a tool that expands the possibilities for stop-motion videos, allows users to remove, reorganize or replace shots within a post before publishing it. Here's a short walkthrough that will show you how to use these new features:

• 1. New Menu Option for Sessions

  

  When you go to shoot a Vine video, you'll see a new option that looks like a sheet of paper at the bottom right of your screen. This is the new Sessions tool.

• 2. Save Up to 10 Drafts

  

  Tap the Sessions icon, and you'll see a pop-up option to discard or save your current draft. Vine will allow you to save up to 10 videos at one time.

  If you want to check your notifications or feed while in the middle of creating a video, you can simply save a draft and exit shooting mode. You'll no longer have to worry about losing your work and having to start over from scratch.

  You can even quit the app and reboot your phone -- your videos will still be there when you reopen Vine.

• 3. Shoot a Second Video

  

  To shoot a new video before publishing the first one, simply swipe to the left, and then you'll see a new viewfinder. Tapping it will bring you to the familiar shooting screen.

• 4. Edit Your Videos With Time Travel

  

  After shooting a single- or multi-frame video, you'll see a new option to edit it at the upper right of your screen. This is the new Time Travel tool.

• 5. Remove or Rearrange Frames

  

  Tap "Edit" and you'll see a timeline of your frames. You can rearrange the order by dragging and dropping any frame into a new position. This update also gives you the option to discard any unwanted clips -- simply drag and drop them into the red trash can bar. When you're finished editing your video, tap "Save" at the top right of your screen.

  This update is especially useful for creating stop-motion videos. If you forget to shoot a frame or two, no problem. Do it at the end and rearrange the order of your shots.

  You can also create a rewind effect using this new feature, hence the name "Time Travel." To do this, shoot each of your frames twice and then rearrange their order to make it appear as if something happened, and then unhappened.

• 6. Save Your Vine Video

  

  After you make your changes, preview your edited video. At this point, you can tap "Edit" once again to go back to the Time Travel tool, if necessary. Vine will not publish your post until you tap "Done" on the sharing screen.
